Information and Referrals

As a long time senior's centre, we are also a wealth of information for seniors.  Anything you need to know, from how to apply for your Old Age Pension, to finding a hairdresser to come to your home, to finding help and advice on your driving when the time comes up for your ‘road test', to where you can get someone to come and pick your apples, etc.   If we don't know the information, we can readily find it.

If you need help, we can refer you to it. Housing, legal, medical, and other issues we can usually make referrals for you.

Our Senior Mentoring program also has volunteers who can help you with many problems.

Getting to Saanich Silver Threads

Saanich Silver Threads is located in the Les Passmore Seniors Activity Centre located in the Gorge-Burnside-Tillicum area, however we welcome participants from all areas of the Capital Regional District to take part in the activities and recreation programs for those 50+.

We offer you recreation and fitness programs, social events, health and wellness, arts, crafts, trips, and information, assistance, and referrals on all matters relating to seniors.

Please check out the programs we offer on this website. We have many fun programs that take place at our centre as well as Outreach programs we take out into the community.

We are fortunate to have a large kitchen and a good chef to provide a meal program Monday to Friday that is open to the general public. Lots of socializing is done over a cup of coffee and a freshly baked cinnamon bun.

Please pop in to our centre for a visit. We will gladly give you a tour and information on our weekly and monthly events. We encourage people to come and try an activity that peaks their interest.

Volunteers help make our centre a comfortable and friendly place to visit. If you are interested in volunteering we'd love to see you at our centre.
